MSNE 580 class started this month, the microscopy class that Rice University needed! It is a 3 credit hour class taught by Emilie Ringe, and an additional laboratory will also be available this semester.
The course focuses on theories, applications, and sample preparation for various microscopy methods including Atom Force Microscopy (AFM), Scanning Electron Micrscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and related spectroscopy techniques. Hands on experience is emphasized. Students are expected to be able to independently operate related instruments after taking the course. NOTE: Not offered every year. Instructor permission required.
