The Ringe Group presents science modules at The Lighthouse of Houston

On Monday, May 16th, the Ringe group presented four science modules at The Lighthouse of Houston, a place dedicated to serve blind and visually impaired people.

Elisabeth_Lighthouse Ryan_Lighthouse Anthony_LighthouseAnthony Stender presented a module entitled “Scale Analysis”, where he explained the concept of scaling and the metric system. Eduardo Villarreal presented his module called “Why Transparent Materials are Transparent?”, where he talked about materials and light interaction with the aid of sound. Ryan Newell, explained his module entitled “The strength of materials”, where he talked about mechanical properties of materials. Elisabeth Bianco, a Rice chemistry graduate student advised by Dr. Ajayan, accompanied the Ringe group and presented the module “Hearing the (Electromagnetic) World Around Us” (developed by Dayne Swearer). The group had the opportunity to explain the modules to more than twenty people.
